In Buenos Aires, a judge has ordered the Web site 888.com to be made inaccessible to city residents because it violates their local gambling laws. According to the ruling, Cassava Enterprises, the 888 operating subsidiary, is to block access to the 888.com and 888.com.ar sites to Buenos Aires residents. Similar moves were taken against Bwin and Victor Chandler’s Argentine-facing sites last year.
“Sounds just like what is happening in Kentucky,” commented Joe Brennan, Jr., founder of the Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association. Brennan, Jr.’s organization prevented the area from seizing over 140 online gambling related domain names last year.
As of this moment, 888.com does not appear to have received any formal warning to cut off the site from Buenos Aires residents.
