Many of us looked on in horror as a weather balloon flew through the air at 25 miles per hour with the assumption that a 6 year old boy, Falcon Heene was holding on for dear life inside.
The flying saucer shaped balloon finally made its decent, but there was no one inside.
To everyone's extreme relief the boy was found hiding in a box in his attic. When he was asked during a TV interview why he did not come out when his parents were calling for him he answered, "You guys said we did it for the show."
Now bookies are taking bets on whether or not this family will be charged and what will happen. Many speculate that this was a publicity stunt. The family was on TV before for a reality TV show called Wife Swap. Anyone who has seen the show can tell that the father of "balloon boy" has a few screws loose.
What did the parents do after accidentally setting their son loose aboard a giant balloon? They called the Federal Aviation Administration and then notified their local news station to get a helicopter in the air. They didn't call the police until after that.
The police recovered footage taken by the family camera that shows the parents looking on as their balloon floats away instead of dropping the camera and running to call 911 like any other parents would do if they knew their son's life was on the line.
