Last week, one extraordinarily lucky couple from Gloucestershire, England won the biggest amount of money from a British lottery ever. Nigel Page and Justine Laycock took home a massive EuroMillions lottery prize worth US$87 million last weekend.

As anyone can see, this major lottery win will be completely life changing for the couple who are already talking about what they plan to do with their newfound fortune. Ms. Laycock has her eyes set on a new house with “five or six bedrooms” and a pool on a nice big piece of land. Mr. Page was almost done paying off a company van which is part of his building maintenance business. He says he would like to purchase a land rover or BMW. When talking to reporters, Mr.Page said that he “started shaking and couldn’t speak” upon finding that he won.

Even though the massive jackpot was definitely the biggest amount of money they had ever won from the lottery, it wasn’t the first time the couple has won money thanks to the EuroMillions. Just one week before winning the millions, they won US$86 from the lotto drawing. So Mr. Page decided to use some of that money to purchase two more “Lucky Dip” tickets to try his luck again. Lucky Dips are tickets that are randomly generated instead of selected by the player.

While watching the news, Mr. Page learned that someone had won the lotto, so he went to check his only lottery account. That’s when he discovered it was him that had the winning tickets. He quickly woke Ms. Laycock and brought her to see the computer screen. She remembers that his hands were trembling and she has to make a call to the lottery hotline to confirm the win before she could believe her eyes.

The coolest thing about the EuroMillions lottery is that unlike the US version of the lottery where players are taxed and paid in annual payments, winners of the EuroMillions receive all of their money at once tax free!
