Two friends from Regina turned $40 into more than $900,000 playing on one of the 800 slot machines at a Saskatchewan casino last weekend.

Jesse and Brandon, who declined to share their last names, were down on their luck while playing roulette at Casino Regina on Saturday afternoon so they decided to return later on that evening.

On their second visit, Brandon said they noticed the Monte Carlo slot was finally open and since the pair played it each weekend they visited they decided to give it a whirl. Just when they were about to call it a night the pair hit the $913,940 jackpot for the largest prize won in the 14-year history of the casino.

"I was extremely shocked," said Brandon. "I didn't say too much for the entire night. I was up until about 5 a.m. just sitting there."

It just goes to show that a major win can truly be struck at any time. The pair who are regulars at the casino never imagined that they would strike one of the largest stand-alone progressive jackpots ever in Canada.

Being the good friends they are the pair has agreed to share the money. $456,970 certainly doesn't sound half bad. No news on how they plan to spend it.
