Floyd Mayweather Jr. is coming in swinging! After weeks of silence, Mayweather said in a radio interview over the weekend that he doesn’t believe a person like Manny Pacquiao could achieve the success he has without the aid of performance-enhancing drugs.
“In a fighter’s career, a fighter starts off good and he’s good until the end of his career or a fighter starts off good and then goes downhill towards the end of his career,” Mayweather told radio-planet.tv in reference to Pacquiao.
“A fighter doesn’t start like Manny Pacquiao, just ordinary, and then once he gets over 25 (years old) he becomes an extraordinary fighter. It doesn’t work like that in this sport of boxing,” continued Mayweather.
The two were supposed to have squared off in March. However, the bout was cancelled after Pacquio refused to comply with the demands of Mayweather’s camp to submit to Olympic style drug testing.
Instead, Pacquiao will face off against Joshua Clottey on March 13, while Mayweather is set to take on Shane Mosley come May 1.
These are two very promising bouts. Oddmakers at Bodog Sportsbook have listed Pacquiao as a -525 favorite over Clottey and Mayweather as a -270 favorite over Mosley. Sign up at Bodog and get in on the action before it’s too late!
Miss B says: This isn’t the first time Mayweather has talked smack about Pacquiao. He has been edging him on for a while now. It wasn’t until last month, after Pacquiao filed a defamation suit against Mayweather, when the “Pretty Boy” quieted down a little. I just think these two need to fight already!
