The online Michael Jackson casino is under some serious heat and the news is buzzing all around the internet. Apparently the shady online gambling site is facing two separate lawsuits for using various unauthorized trademarks. Even more troubling, the popular register GoDaddy.com is also involved in one of the suits for allowing the company to register the online Michael Jackson casino name.
The online Michael Jackson Casino offers everything from poker to baccarat. It also features a number of photos of Jackson and a message on their home page that reads, "The King of Pop is proud to bring you the most exciting Vegas style online casino betting experience on the Net!"
The problem is, Jackson's estate claims they never gave the online gambling site permission to use any of their trademarks. Now the attorney for Michael Jackson's estate, Howard Weitzman, has made it public that he will "take whatever legal actions are necessary to shut this operation down."
The troubles for the site don't stop there. Another man is onboard this lawsuit war. Howard Mann claims to have ownership rights to photographs published on the online Michael Jackson casino. Now he filed a federal lawsuit against the unknown owner of online Michael Jackson Casino as well as GoDaddy.com, for hosting this illegal website.
Now it is highly unlikely that Mann could win such a lawsuit against GoDaddy.com. After all, they don't have any legal obligation to ensure that the content of the sites they host don't infringe on the copyrights of others. Even Mann admits his motive behind suing GoDaddy.com is to "flush out the name of the person" who owns Michael Jackson Casino. That casino owner is currently unknown.
A spokesperson for GoDaddy.com said that the company will "vigorously defend itself." He also stated that when their "customers are involved in a legal dispute, Go Daddy complies with court orders." Mann is seeking more than $100 million in damages from both websites.
Miss B says: Wow this is crazy. It's extremely disrespectful to unlawfully coordinate a website of someone who has passed away. The person or persons behind this phony site need to shut it down and stop hiding. As far as Go Daddy goes, they shouldn't be involved in the suit. They are not the wrongdoers, the unknown owner of the site is.
