Despite a number of setbacks Pinnacle Entertainment is finally ready to open their new casino complex River City Casino next month in St. Louis County. The announcement came on Friday that the complex is all set to open March 4th at 2pm.
The 90,000 square foot facility is the second casino opened by Pinnacle in the St. Louis area in the last three years and the seventh casino to open in the region. It’s estimated that the Las Vegas-based gaming company spent over $357 million on its construction and equipment. It will feature more than 2,000 slot machines and 55 table games providing over 1,200 jobs to members of the community.
With this new addition Pinnacle will own and operate three casinos in the region. Recently there has been a lot of controversy in regards to one of their other casinos the President Casino. The State Gaming Commission has moved to strip their license from that casino because of the way they have been handling the property. The commission says that the company has let that site become “obsolete and underachieving,” and that they want someone else to take it over.
With so much controversy in the air the company has been pushing hard in its advertising for the new complex hoping to make a success of it. The company has suffered hard loses over the last two years but they appear to continue to remain optimistic about the future.
