Rafael Nadal has won his first ever US Open title. The tennis star beat out Novak Djokovic 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 to become the youngest player to complete a career Grand Slam on Monday.
At 24 years-old Nadal has now won all four major titles, the US Open, the French Open, Wimbledon and the Australian Open. He is just the seventh man in tennis history to accomplish the feat and tennis fans everywhere are shouting their praises.
"In winning the U.S. Open, Nadal completed a remarkable transformation from a radical clay-court stylist into a man for all surfaces and all majors. He did it with the diligence and patience of a craftsman," reads a blog on ESPN.
"There seems to be no end to the improvement of which this already iconic player is capable," reads an article on NBC Sports.
Probably no one is shouting Nadal's praises more enthusiastically though than the sports fans who put their money on him. The U.S. Open is a very popular event in the sports betting world and despite his talent Nadal didn't exactly have the best odds since no other Spaniard has ever won at Flushing Meadows.
