Founder of Bodog and Industry Star Calvin Ayre issued a challenge to the gambling industry last week, saying that it has a responsibility to the world to help with Haitian relief efforts.
"It is a disaster in Haiti. I know they have had a tough go from Mother Nature recently, hurricanes and now this earth quake, but I can not help but be disgusted with the ruling elite that has driven this country down like this while, no doubt, filling their own pockets. That all said the innocents as always are paying a horrendous price for this elite thievery and I think the global online gaming community has a duty to do something," he stated in his blog.
Making it a point to lead by example Ayer personally asked his charitable foundation (the Calvin Ayre Foundation) to send £10,000 (approximately $16,366) to United Kingdom based Oxfam to help with Haitian relief efforts.
For those unfamiliar with the organization Oxfam is an international organization which makes it their mission to aid impoverished nations across the world. Founded in 1942 as the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief it has expanded in to over 100 countries worldwide and has become one of the most respected humanitarian groups in the world.
Ayers, is not planning on stopping at £10,000 either. In effort to drive support from others in the industry he has agreed to match any proven payment to Oxfam dollar for dollar for up to $1,000,000. All you need to do is send a scanned copy of any receipts directly to his foundation's email at

Send a donation now and help with this historic effort to get the small island nation back on its feet. Tens of millions of USD have already been raised for Haitian reconstruction but costs are still on the rise. Every little bit goes a long way towards getting adults and children some measure of their life back. As Ayre says, "everyone making money has a duty to help."
