The 6th Annual National Heads-Up Poker Championship presented by GoDaddy will be returning next month at the Caesars Palace Casino in Las Vegas.
"We're excited to bring this annual tradition back to Caesars Palace," said the executive vice president of NBC Sports. "The National Heads-Up Poker Championship's compelling poker action has become a must-see for the casual and hardcore poker fan alike."
The event will be held March 4-7, 2010 and will bring 64 of the world's most talented poker players to compete in poker's most prestigious heads up tournament. The players will battle it out with a bracket-style head to head format where $1.5 million dollars will be on the line. The event will be presented and sponsored by the world's largest domain name registering company, GoDaddy.com and filmed to be aired on NBC for six Sundays in a row during April and May of this year.
"This sponsorship works for us, in part, because a good majority of poker players and fans are also internet users," said Bob Parsons, the CEO and Founder of GoDaddy. "And of course, it was thrilling to watch some of the most dominant poker stars compete last year in the championship."
Many of the industry's biggest name pros with huge talent will be in attendance for the event including Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, Vanessa Rousso, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth and 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion, Joe Cada. Huckleberry seed, the only player to cash in all five years of the Heads Up Championships, will also be competing this year.
"It takes a lot of skill and mental toughness to get through a field of such exceptional players," said Huck Seed. "But I look forward to defending my title and trying to win it again."
Make sure to tune in to NBC on Sundays in April and May to watch episodes of this year's action.
