To all of the fans of the King of rock-n-roll, there will be a new Cirque du Soleil show featuring Elvis Presley at the brand new City Center in Vegas next month when the Aria opens in December. The show will be entitled "Viva Elvis" and will play off of the 1965 film of Presley's "Viva Las Vegas."
The show is being produced through a partnership between Cirque du Soleil and the Elvis Presley Enterprises. Viva Elvis will begin playing in the Las Vegas Casino's theater when the City Center's Aria Casino and Resort opens up on December 16.
A recent press release dubbed the show as "created in the image of The King of Rock n Roll-powerful, sexy, whimsical, truly unique and larger than life-the show highlights an American icon who transformed popular music."
Instead of just making a boring, same old musical production of Elvis' career and life, the show will be a series of interesting interpretations, scenes, music, and amazing Cirque acrobatics to combine into one of the most untraditional tributes to Presley ever made. In one scene, reports claim that an Elvis impressionist is crushed by a giant blue suede shoe.
As of right now, there is no news on when tickets will become available to the public, but more information and updates on the show can be found at the Cirque du Soleil twitter page, http://twitter.com/Cirque.
