Sacramento's Darrell Cain caused quite a stir at this year’s L.A. Poker Classic (LAPC) first event when he made one of the biggest comebacks in LAPC history. Cain had been facing some stiff competition early on in the contest and was ready to call it quits when someone stopped him just as he was cashing out to let him know he still had eight chips on the table.

Figuring it was a sign to keep going, Cain decided to play them out and went on to take first place and a prize of $363,936. "It's unbelievable,” said Cain soon after the competition. “Those eight little green chips...Man, the good lord was looking over me. I'm just elated.”

The event was one of the largest in LAPC history with over 5,847 players and a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million. The buy-in was a meager $335 which provided Cain a return investment of over 1086%.

LAPC Tournament Director Matt Savage was excited by the turn of events using it to encourage others to get in on the game. "Darrell Cain's win shows that it doesn't take a miracle to win hundreds of thousands of dollars at Commerce Casino's LAPC, it just takes staying in the game!” he told reporters. "We applaud Darrell's never-give-up attitude and congratulate him on his victory."

LAPC events will continue to run from now until March 4th. With over 50 total events and two WPT events a lot of results are on their way. Players are expected to create a whopping $20 million prize pool with $3.3 million in guarantees along the way. Stay tuned for more details.
