Poker pro Kara Scott started the year off right by officially becoming a member of Party Poker this week. The professional poker player and tv personality has worked with the company in the past and is very enthusiastic by this new turn of events. "I've had such a positive experience in poker and have been incredibly lucky as well...Being asked to be a part of Team Party is a real rush and I'm so honored. I just hope I can do them proud," she told reporters.
Her new agreement with Party Poker will certainly provide her with plenty of opportunities. It includes not only buy-ins for major events across the world but also further opportunities to serve as host. She has already done some hosting work for them in the past serving as a presenter for the Party Poker World Tour just last year. Her next big hosting gig for the organization is scheduled for next month in Las Vegas where she will help present the PartyPoker Premier League IV.
Ironically it is Party Poker that helped her break her way into the industry. In 2007 she made it to the final table at PartyPoker Women's Open I and in 2008 she made her first major cash winning at their Sports Star Challenge III event. Both allowing her to start making a name for herself and hone her poker skills. And hone them she did, just last year she placed second at the Irish Open taking home a whopping €312,600 prize the equivalent of about 452,832 USD. She has also gained some distinction in recent years for being only the second woman in the competitions history to ever cash in on more than one World Series of Poker Main Events ranking in 2008 and 2009.
As for her television career Scott started off in 2002 when she served as a sports presenter for the martial arts show, "Now is the Time: Night of Combat" she would later go on to become an associate producer for the show before leaving it to pursue her true passion, gambling. After a short sprint as host for the first ever televised backgammon show "High Stakes Backgammon" in 2005, Scott moved on to Poker and has never looked back. So far she has served as hostess for such shows as Poker Night Live, Sky Poker and High Stakes Poker on GSN. The new contract should not interfere with her High Stakes Poker co-hosting position.
With so many new responsibilities Kara Scott should definitely be keeping herself busy for the next few years so keep an eye out for her. She definitely has a lot of potential as player and host and has already begun to prove herself to the world at large. Who knows what she'll be headed for next.
PartyPoker is a website on the PartyGaming Network which includes PartyCasino, PartyBets and PartyBingo in their lineup of awesome gaming entertainment.
