NBA star Lebron James will officially become a free agent on July 1st. For months now the superstar has been headlining news as basketball enthusiasts speculate which team will obtain the 2-time MVP for next season. Many believe the New York Knicks to be the favorite, especially because of their financial standing. However some, like the legendary Charles Oakley, beg to differ.
"Chicago or Miami. Not New York. He's leaving. He wants to go someplace where he can win. He's been in the league, what, seven or eight years? It's time for him to get over the hump," said Oakley in a recent interview with the NY Daily News. Oakley's opinions on Lebron's future plans defiantly hold some weight. The former NBA All-Star of the 80's and 90's is close friends with Lebron and the two have grown close ties over the past few seasons. In fact, Oakley has been a personal mentor to Lebron ever since the two met a few years back. Regardless of what team "King Lebron" decides to plays for next season, James has already turned in league documents to officially change his jersey number from 23 to 6, in honor of Michael Jordan. Bodog Sportsbook has listed the odds as to where Lebron James will sign as the following: Chicago Bulls 40/1 Cleveland Cavaliers 1/3 Dallas Mavericks 25/1 Los Angeles Clippers 40/1 Miami Heat 35/1 New Jersey Nets 10/1 New York Knicks 3/1 Olympiakos S.F.P. (Euroleague) 100/1 Any other team 18/1 Miss B says: Lebron James is arguably the game's best player at the present time. So his decision will play a major part in determining which franchises hold the best players for next season. My pick is the Chicago Bulls. James would love more than anything to follow in the footsteps of his favorite NBA star Micheal Jordan, especially if he were to team up with Dwayne Wade, who has also considered a move to the Bulls.
