A risque billboard ad has been causing a lot of controversy in Atlantic City. On February 1st, the Resorts Casino Hotel purchased a 60 foot wide ad to promote their new "Moonshine Follies" cabaret show. The ad which features a barely concealed bottom fitted into a beaded g-string has not only received a lot of complaints from people in the area who are concerned that it is too racy for children to see but it has also received a lot of praise from people who feel that it's just the sort of thing the city needs to peek interest and excitement.
Dennis Gomes the Resort's owner, CEO, and president says that the ad is part of the Casino's campaign to bring the roaring '20s back to Atlantic City. He called "Moonshine Follies" a perfect example of the Roaring '20s. The advertisement reads, "see what made the '20s an era that is remembered by all as free-spirited and full of vigor with a sexy and sizzling new revue show."
Gomes said that he personally loves the new ad, "I think it's fantastic. It's not like we're showing any kind of thing that is restricted by any gaming legislation or we are showing any frontal nudity or any topless breast."
Gomes said that the people of Atlantic City need to lighten up saying, "I grew up in Las Vegas, and it's just a constant, everyday thing there, so it's not considered. Atlantic City needs to get out of the Victorian kind of culture that it has been in for so many years."
Just to give you an indication of just how offended people have been about it, when WMGM-TV 40 reported on the story on Monday they censored the ad putting a big black bar across the butt cheek.
As of the moment the ad and the show itself is still scheduled to run through April 16th.
As always, stay tuned to Casinofan for more news and updates.
