Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval has officially reappointed Pete Bernhard to the position of Nevada Gaming Commission Chairman. Bertrand who previously served as the chairman of the state's Ethics Commission has been the Chairman for the Nevada Gaming Commission since 2001 and will now retain his position until at least 2015.
During the announcement Gov. Sandoval commented on his decision saying, "At a time when the gaming industry faces unprecedented modernization efforts and we are working to maintain Nevada's position as the gold standard of gaming regulation, Pete has the experience and day-to-day knowledge to help Nevada continue to move forward. I have tremendous respect for his work and I look forward to his continued leadership in our state's most important industry."
Nevada has been struggling since the economic crisis hit the US in the late 2000s. So far casinos have shown little sign of recovery and it is unclear how keeping Sandoval as Chairman will insure that substantial changes will be made.
