Calvin Ayre is at it again with a new April Fool's Day prank. This year he told reporters that he sold his popular iGaming news site, CalvinAyre.com to a group of public gaming executives only later releasing an official statement saying, "April Fools."
The joke, which anyone who knows about Ayre didn't fall for, was just one in a long line of pranks that the Bodog founder has played on the gaming industry. Over the years, he has told the press that he lost Bodog.com to billionaire Richard Branson in a card game, announced plans to build the first casino in space, doctored pornographic images of himself, and announced a campaign to find a child to be the heir of his empire.
While this year's prank lacked a lot of the originality of some of his other ones, Ayre still made it a point to remind everyone in the online gambling industry that we shouldn't take ourselves too seriously. The gambling industry is after all, just a part of the entertainment industry and it's our job to make people happy, so just relax and enjoy yourself.
