The Royal Wedding is over and now bookmakers are setting their sights on the next milestone for the royal couple - the birth of the couple's first child. Online bookmakers have begun taking bets on the couple's first child with bets that range from when the baby will be born to what university it will attend.
PaddyPower.com has placed 10/1 odds that a baby will be born this year, 8/15 odds that one will be born in 2012, and 5/2 odds that the couple will welcome their first child in 2013.
If you are looking for a safer bet, the site is also taking bets on the sex of the couple's first child. The site has put 5/6 odds on the child being male or female and no matter what you choose you have a 50/50 shot of being right.
If you feel really strongly about what the sex will be then you can place further bets on what the name of the first child will be. Frances is the firm favorite if the child is born a girl, with 5/1 odds and John is the favorite if the baby is born a boy with odds of 6/1. Other popular choices include Diana (8/1), Charles (10/1), Anne (10/1), Spencer (10/1), Henry (10/1), and George (10/1).
For a more long term bet, PaddyPower will also be taking bets on the university the couple's first baby will attend. The favorite is the Royal Military Academy Sandhurt (6/5). Other options include St. Andrews (2/1), Cambridge (9/4), Oxford (5/1), Imperial College London (12/1), and LSE (16/1).
