Caesars Entertainment has been lobbying for legalized online poker for quite some time so it's pretty ironic that the company is now spending an estimated $4.2 million lobbying against the intrastate gambling. The world's largest gaming enterprise is pushing hard for legalized federal online gambling and they have made it clear over the past few months that they do not support legalization on the state level. They have come out against legislation in New Jersey, Florida, Iowa, California and now even Nevada saying that, "Our focus in not on intrastate gaming, it's on interstate gaming."
Earlier this year, Caesars Entertainment made their opinion very clear to NJ Governor Chris Christie who ultimately vetoed a bill that would have made New Jersey the first state to legalize and regulate online gambling. They are now making their opinions as clear as possible to Nevada legislators but it is unclear what affect if any they will have on the outcome of the bill.
Meanwhile, federal legislation in the U.S. appears to be moving forward as more Republicans jump on the online gambling bandwagon calling online gambling regulation a matter of national security.
