A law suit has been filed in the Canadian court against the Cake Poker Network. Ryan Bennett and Francois Piette have filed several accusations against the network including breach of contract, fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation, and conspiracy.
According to the lawsuit, Bennett and Piette were the "brains" behind the network's creation and they taught Yummy Interactive staff the "ins and outs" of poker in exchange for a 20% stake in the new company and some say in how business was run. Things appeared to be going well until in March 2005, Bennette was canned from the company over what the lawsuit calls a personal disagreement and Piette was also removed from the staff a year later. After Cake Poker went live in 2006 Bennett and Piette say they only received a small portion of the dividends that were actually owed to them. The Cake Poker Network denies the charges of course and a legal battle is already underway. If the decision goes against Cake Poker Network they could be forced to pay tens of millions of dollars in compensation to Bennette and Piette before all is said and done.
