The ribbon will be cut at the Canterbury Card Casino this evening as it marks both its grand reopening and its 10-year anniversary. The 18,000 sq. foot casino began renovations on the property in early January in order to house its new poker room at the back of the casino.

"We changed the layout of the card casino, bringing the excitement of table games to the front and adding glass walls that will make the new room very visible," said Randy Sampson, Canterbury's CEO. "Having operated in the same room without any major changes for 10 years, an eternity in casino terms, we are very excited about the renovation."

Following the private ribbon cutting ceremony the doors to the casino will be opened to the general public at 7:00pm with the first 200 players receiving a $5 commemorative chip for the occasion.

Poker players will have plenty of incentive to visit the room over the next few months.

For starters from April 22-June 30 players who log 100 hours or more with their MVP card will get entry into a semi-final tournament for a $100,000 free-roll with those who log 175 hours or more getting automatic entry into the main event.

If that weren't enough, next month the casino will host the popular Minnesota State Poker Championships from May 19^th-23^rd. The $1,100 event will make good use of the new poker room which feature such amenities as tableside food and beverage service, and massage services.

"We have added some very nice amenities to make this a fun and comfortable gaming experience for our guests," said Sampson.
