There is new research showing that residents of the United States are becoming aware of the little known fact that there is no law which makes online gambling illegal in the US. The recent survey conducted by Ipsos Reid has shown the false belief that online gambling is illegal has declined dramatically over the past couple of years. In fact, the rate has dropped by four percent over the last three years.

During the study it was recorded that in 2007, 42 percent of residents who responded to the survey thought that online gambling is illegal. In 2010, only 37 percent of Americans were going unaware that online gambling is not illegal.

The results of this study prove that despite the negativity from the Department of Justice and other groups who consistently bad mouth the online gambling industry, the general public is still realizing the truth behind all the talk.

In addition, people believe that the US should be able to regulate online gambling including casinos. 55 percent of these individuals believe that the regulation should come at a federal level, while 45 percent agree to a state by state approach.

A study representative said that the results proved that "Americans feel more comfortable in playing betting games and gambling when there is a system of government regulation in place."
