The Chinese government has decided to make their position regarding online casinos very clear and for many it may not be the answer they were looking for. The Chinese government has had legal land based casinos for many years in certain parts of the country but online casinos that are based on these casinos have been the only ones allowed in China thus far.
China recently stated that they do not want outside internet casinos in their borders. Government officials stated that they would be bringing in harder regulations to put a stop to the unwanted sites and that they would strengthen their blocks on the internet to maintain their control over the information their citizens are able to see.
China has not been very diplomatic in their refusal to allow outside online casinos into their market. Even trustworthy operators are being turned away as if they were "hostile forces." Any online casino, search engine or social networking site could be considered a hostel force to Chinese officials. Google recently made quite a scene battling against Chinese oppression and found the door closed to them rather quickly.
China's recent announcement regarding online casinos should not come as much of a surprise to people considering how events have recently transpired. China believes that online casinos drive money away from their economy and despite the aggravated opinions of the Chinese people they have never flinched.
The Chinese government is unwilling to say just what measures will take place but one thing is clear US and UK players won't have to worry about competition from Chinese players anymore.
