The domain name, gambling.com, is up for auction according to a recent advertising from Media Corp. The highly sought after web address is expected to sell for around $10 million according to reports from onlinepoker.net because its simplicity will not only make it easy for the web site to show up in search engines but will also be easy for potential customers to remember.
Media Corp's chief executive officer, Justin Drummond, told reporters that the funds from the domain's sale should go a long way towards funding other initiatives in the market, "Whilst the Group has significant cash reserves, we have recently seen a number of exciting acquisition opportunities in the online gambling and online advertising space. The successful sale of gambling.com will give the Group significant financial resources to pursue these acquisition opportunities."
Sedo Holding AG has been given the contract to sell the domain name. They could have opted to take bids on the domain name but instead they chose to take it to auction in order to earn top dollar on the sale.
"We are very pleased to have been chosen as the exclusive broker for the sale of Gambling.com," said Tim Schumacher, CEO of Sedo Holding AG. "A defining domain name like this can enable a brand to own their vertical and would be a fantastic addition to any gaming or gambling business. Gambling.com is a safe bet, it has traffic, branding, and instant memorability."
