Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. announced on Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with Paradise Casino LLC that could involve the sale and change in location of Isle of Capri's Crown Casino riverboat casino to Bossier City, LA.
The casino is typically the lowest-performing riverboat in the state, earning less than $2 million a month in gambling revenue. Isle of Capri said that the deal would need to be finalized by Nov. 30th. For the deal to go through, the Louisiana Gaming Control Board will need to approve the deal and Bossier Parish voters will need to sign off on it in a parish wide referendum. It is unclear at this time how much Paradise Casino is planning to pay for casino.
Bossier City is a popular location for riverboat casinos. There are currently four riverboat casinos located in the city and a fifth in neighboring Shreveport. Isle of Capri once operated in Bossier City, but sold its riverboat-hotel, along with a dockside casino in Vicksburg, Miss., to Legends Gaming LLC in 2006 for $240 million.
Isle of Capri has tried to move the Crown Casino many times over the years. In 2002 it attempted to move the Crown to Cameron Parish and in 2004 it tried to relocate it to Jefferson Parish, both attempts proved to be unsuccessful but perhaps Paradise Casino will have better luck.
