Maryland casinos may soon offer table games. Maryland legislators are beginning to show signs of support for a bill that would permit five licensed slot casinos within the state to offer poker, blackjack, craps, and roulette. Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey all offer table games and many in Maryland believe that they are losing out on revenue by keeping table games out of the casino. Most Maryland residents after all only need to drive a little less than an hour to play across state lines.
Maryland Delegate Frank S. Turner said that bill is simply "a matter of staying competitive with other states around us." Delaware has seen a major increase in revenues since they began offering table games and Turner argues that Maryland could see similar profits if they were to allow tables games at their casinos.
In addition to allowing table games, the state is also considering adding slot machines to the Baltimore/Washington International Airport, adding more lottery ticket terminals across the state, and allowing American war veterans to operate slot machines.
