Merger talks between Party Gaming and Bwin Interactive Entertainment have come to a halt. The companies have been attempting to negotiate a merger for many months but it appears that the two are incapable of coming to an agreement.

Hannes Androsch, Chairman for Bwin's Supervisory Board recently told reporters, "In the end, talks with the other party have not led to the desired outcome."

Since then however, Bwin has released a statement saying that Androsch was misquoted, "he would like to clarify his statement as follows: 'It is true that up until now, talks have not led to any specific outcome.'"

If the two were to make a deal it could result in huge ramifications for the online casino affiliate marketing industry. The Bwin and Party Gaming brands hold a large share of the industry and together they could be unstoppable.

Norbert Teufelberger, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Bwin, stated: "Bwin wants to tackle the task of entering the United States with a competent and local partner...We are holding talks to do this."

While speculation still surrounds the status of talks between Bwin and Party Gaming, it is likely that a merger of this magnitude could transform the industry. Both companies are valued in the billions and a merger would help Party Gaming's position as the third largest poker business. For the moment though it appears neither party is willing to compromise and it could be some time before an agreement if any is made.
