Nevada Gaming Control has released their annual Gaming Abstract report. According to the report Nevada casinos suffered a massive $3.43 billion in net losses, making 2010 one of worst years for casinos in the state's history.
Most of the 2010 loss was seen in Clark County which serves as home to 148 of Nevada's 256 licensed casinos. Casinos there suffered huge deductions from revenue because of depreciation and interest expenses on mega-resorts. Depreciation alone totaled $2.49 billion and interest expenses totaled a whopping $2.67 billion.
The Carson Valley Area on the other hand, fared a much better. They reported an overall loss of just $435,875 compared to the $8.7 million lost in the 2009 fiscal year. This news should not come as much surprise as the Carson Valley Area has long been known to rebound more quickly than other areas across the state.
The Elko Area was one bright spot in the report. Its 18 casinos reported just over $37 million in net income compared to the $11.45 million reported by other casinos in rural Nevada.
