New Hampshire has come up with an ingenious way to offer customers the chance to play at online casinos while eluding the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). The state will begin selling physical lottery tickets to players which can be used to fund their time to play at a special online casino.
Since the system avoids the need for players to accept or make payments via the internet the state is not technically breaking any laws. When it comes down to it actually they could come straight out and legalize the practice and not have to deal with the UIGEA at all which only technically restricts the withdrawal and deposit of funds into an unlawful gambling establishment.
In the new system payment is collected by selling lottery tickets in a physical transaction involving the actual ticket and the player. Each purchased lottery ticket will provide players with a code that offers them credit at an online casino site. This in some way simplifies things for players since it avoids the need for players to use their credit cards or alternative payment methods to pay for their online gambling.
The new lottery tickets for PlayNowNH will go on sale next month. Ticket prices cost up to $100 and players will be access the site which offers a good selection of titles including baseball, super slots, poker and speed bingo from any personal computer. In order to purchase the tickets players will need to be 18 years of age or older.
In an interesting twist of fate the introduction of the new system surprised local lawmakers such as Lou D'Allesandro who had a bill proposing the introduction of video slots rejected earlier this month. Just goes to show where there is a demand someone will provide and more likely than not big companies will do their best to monopolize the market.
