Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Atlantic City topped the list of top casino destinations in the US. A new Hoover's poll asked 711 people from across the US to name their top gambling destination. Las Vegas received 47%, New Orleans garnered 10% of the vote, and Atlantic City received only 8% of the vote. Other cities on the list included Reno (5%) and St. Louis (4%).
The results of the survey do not spell good news for Atlantic City which has been struggling since the recession hit but there is a glimmer of hope for America's Favorite Playground. According to pollsters nearly a quarter of those who did not choose Atlantic City as one of their top destinations gave no reason for leaving Atlantic City out of the list. The biggest factors for choosing Atlantic City included its beaches (26%), its casinos (11%), and its first rate entertainment (6%).
The results of the poll will likely affect the way the cities choose to advertise themselves on a national level. By building on their strengths, perhaps Atlantic City and other cities on the list will be able to improve their standing next time the poll comes around.
