Gaming experts say that Pennsylvania could soon overtake Atlantic City as the country's second most popular gambling destination. Last year, Pennsylvania took in about $2.5 billion in gambling revenue which is not far behind Atlantic City's $3.6 billion in revenue. As Atlantic City continues to see declining profits Pennsylvania saw massive growth following the inclusion of table games at their casinos. Andrew Zarnett, managing director at Deutsche Bank Securities, estimates that Pennsylvania could overtake Atlantic City as the nation's second-largest gaming market as soon as next year and investors will definitely be keeping their eyes on recent developments.
Atlantic City is doing all it can right now to hold on to its status as the east coast's Las Vegas but despite increasingly outrageous promotions and perks for their players it seems the city has not been able to get back on its feet since the recent recession. Sometimes it takes a little longer for the tourism industry to bounce back but Atlantic City has in the past relied more on the casinos themselves to attract players than other locations like Las Vegas. Now that more states in region offer casino gambling many Atlantic City casinos are finding it almost impossible to compete.
