Two-thirds of the US is still reeling from a cold front of "historic proportions." Dubbed "Snowmaggedon" or "Blizzard of Oz" the storm coursed its way through the Midwest breaking snowfall and low temperature records and collapsing roofs, shutting down airports and high ways, and leaving tens of thousands of people without power. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa was just one of the many property's damaged but thanks to the quick thinking of a member of the casino staff no one was injured when the a large section of the roof collapsed.
Tyler Sanders was working an early morning shift when he noticed that some sheetrock had fallen on the floor of the casino's bath rooms. He immediately notified his boss and within a few minutes the area was cleared leaving nothing but the machines to take the force of the ceiling collapse.
"As soon as I seen it and looked up, I knew something was not right. I mean I knew the wall was not suppose to be like that. I kinda of figured it was a safety issue that needed to be handled and dealt with," Sanders told reporters after the roof collapsed. Despite preventing potentially hundreds of injuries Sanders did not think that his heroics were a big deal, "I mean I don't expect anything. I guess it was just one of those things in the right place at the right time to take the actions that I took." After the roof's collapse Sanders continued to work his hift as usual, even staying the night at the casino to avoid getting into an accident.
It seems that the Hard Rock Casino its self is taking a similar stance. After assessing the damages the Casino has decided that they will remain open to their customers and continue to offer entertainment to their guests, just not in that section of the casino.
More heavy snow fall and below normal temperatures are expected to hit the US over the next two weeks.
As always, stay tuned to Casinofan for more news and updates.
