Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City has been hit by another high roller. A couple months ago a blackjack player won $5.8 million at the casino draining them of profits and now another gambler has taken them for $5.3 million. Tropicana's new chief executive officer, Tony Rodio, said the unidentified gambler won most of the money at the craps table during a six-hour hot streak Wednesday night and that he showed his appreciation by leaving a $150,000-plus tip, which was divided up among the Tropicana table games dealers who worked that night. He declined to name the player but did confirm that it was not Don Johnson, the high-rolling blackjack player who revealed his identity in a May 22 story in The Press of Atlantic City.
Tropicana has made high-stakes wagering the centerpiece of its casino strategy and it has proven to be hit or miss over the past few months. The strategy allows them to make a killing most of the time, but if one player hits a winning streak their profits can disappear in a matter of hours. To combat this problem it has been announced that the casino will be creating a new "party pit" where female blackjack and roulette dealers will wear bustiers and stockings. Perhaps they can't change a player's luck but they can certainly try and distract them with racy uniforms.
As always, stay tuned to Casinofan for more news and updates.
