The Trump Marina Hotel Casino will be changing its name. Work crews took down the 18-foot-high aqua blue "Trump" moniker off the casino on Monday in preparation for a change in ownership. Landry's Inc., owner of the Golden Nugget casino franchise, is buying Trump Marina for $38 million and plans to rebrand the casino as a Golden Nugget casino.
Landry's has already begun making $150 million in renovations to turn Trump Marina into the latest version of Golden Nugget franchise.
"We have been hard at work renovating the first phase of the property so that we can give our patrons something fresh and exciting that reflects the new spirit of the Golden Nugget," said Tilman Fertitta, chairman and chief executive officer of Landry's. To help provide the full Golden Nugget experience, the casino will be bringing its own restraint brands to the casino, "The addition of this concept is just one of the many exciting changes that patrons will experience over the next few months as we prepare for a complete transformation."
The New Jersey Casino Control Commission is scheduled to approve the sale next Monday. Once that is done a new sign will be erected.
