72 Hopefuls were in attendance as the day began with Canadian Matt Lapossie leading in chips by over 100k. Each one of the players triumphantly joining the poker fun on day three had already made it into the money.Lapossie managed to stay on top throughout the day but finished in second place with 1.6 million in chips.
The excitement began early on as Roland de Wolfe managed to outplay a fellow with pocket nines. He stole the advantage on the flop with an ace and luckily finished the round with two pair. Unfortunately, just hours later, De Wolfe bet the River holding only a king high and was called my Tobias Reinkemeier. De Wolfe refused to show his hand to Reinkemeier and when pushed to do so he threw his hand into the muck pile showing only his King. Once Wolfe gave up his hand, Reinkemeier triumphantly showed his queen high hand and was awarded the pot. Wolfe was very upset and argued that he should win the pot but the tournament staff ruled in favor of Reinkemeier.
Six former PokerStars EPT champions were also in attendance including Wolfe, Jens Kyllonen, Noah Boeken, Jan Boubli, Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier and Mike "Timex" Mcdonald. Boeken was out early in the day finishing in 58th place. The other five are still in the competition striving to become the first player to win two PokerStars EPT titles.
The new chip leader Georgios Kapalas finished the night by winning a massive pot from Samer Rahman who was eliminated on the last hand of the night. Kapalas finished with over 1.7 million in chips.
Out of the 72 players, 23 will return today and compete for the final table. Play begins at 12:30pm local time.
