WMS Gaming has revolutionized slot play before but this time they are taking things to an all new level. They will be teaming up a classic game show with a combination of other technology to bring players an all new experience. "The Price Is Right" will combine Transmissive Reels Gaming, Community Gaming and Sensory Immersion technologies to create the feel of a real, live game show complete with cheering crowds.
For those unfamiliar with Transmissive Reels it is a truly revolutionary concept that came out just a few years ago. Basically it is a regular reels game in the fact that it has mechanical wheels that spin on command but unlike a normal slot machine these mechanical wheels are overlaid with liquid crystal displays (LCDs) that allows players to play bonus games on the same screen. "The Price is Right" will make heavy use of this feature and provide players with an array of bonus material.
The two bonus games to be included in the original release are based off of games that any "Price is Right" fan should be familiar with, Plinko and Punch a Bunch. Plinko will have players dropping virtual discs down a virtual game board, bouncing between pegs on the way to the bottom where like the original it lands in a bin marked with a prize amount. Punch a Bunch like on TV will allow players to break through paper circles, collecting prizes as they go.
Community Gaming will provide players with a sense of camaraderie in the Showcase Showdown Progressive Bonus. The game will consist of five progressive levels which will be displayed above the reels. When the event is launched, one player will be randomly selected to give the wheel a spin. The fun part is that all the players who are eligible with their play collect bonuses. So the better one person does the better it is for everyone.
As for the Sensory Gaming aspect of the game it is all about the chair. "We are partnering with Bose, and in our chair we are using intellectual property that we call 3-Space. With our audio, 3-Space can pinpoint 360 degrees around somebody sitting in a chair. We can start having sound calls or voice speech playing out, and it feels like it is coming from behind you, or from the right, or in front of you. It feels like you are in the studio with people cheering you on and telling you pick this one or pick that one. It really feels like you're there," says Bradley Rose, director of game studios at WMS.
No word yet on when the game will be ready for the market but it definitely looks like it will bring a whole new world to both casual and loyal gamers.
