Bill Seebeck was jumping for joy after hitting the Bally Ultimate Party Spin slot machine's jackpot at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, Florida. Bill couldn't contain his happiness as the realization of winning $166,666,666.65 sunk in. He could hardly wait to collect his massive winnings. That's when the casino stepped in and told Seebeck the devastating news.

Hard Rock officials said that the slot machine suffered from a malfunction and that the multi-million dollar win was impossible on that machine since the top payout of the Bally Ultimate Party Spin is a much smaller $99,000. In addition to the already doom and gloom news he was already given, he was also told that the $1.50 wager he made on the machine could only produce a jackpot winning of $2,500 and that since the machine malfunctioned, he wasn't even going to get that much.

The casino went straight to work trying to convince Seebeck to sign a waiver which would eliminate his rights to any money due to the fact that the machine suffered from a malfunction. If signed, he would not be entitled to any compensation for hitting the jackpot. He did what any smart better would do and went straight away to find a lawyer without signing anything.

The casino had a change of heart after realizing what may be coming their way so they offered Seebeck an unknown amount of money to compensate for such a huge letdown. "The Seminole Hard Rock Casino has made an offer to William Seebeck, and he has accepted...Determination of a malfunction was made by representatives of the machine's manufacturer and software provider.....The casino opted to settle this matter for an undisclosed amount as a good faith gesture, and we look forward to welcoming Mr. Seebeck on future visits." a spokesman for the casino said.

Casinos actually have no responsibility to pay out when a machine malfunctions but a similar situation occurred at the Hollywood Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The casino let a player keep a $259,000 payout on a malfunctioning machine after negative media.
