Singapore to Open Amazing New Casino Complex

altSingapore's first casino complex, Resort World Sentosa is scheduled to open its first stage of operations next Wednesday Jan. 20th, 2010 after years of construction. This initial stage will be comprised of four luxury hotels offering 1,350 rooms and 10 restaurants. Festive Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, Hotel Michael and Crocksfords Tower are all schedule to open on time despite monsoon rains and financial troubles from subcontractors.

Resort World Sentosa is also planning a Universal Studios Singapore, a maritime museum, one of the largest marine life parks in the world, a spa and two more hotels sometime after 2010. The opening date for the Casino itself will be announced once the group receives notice of their operating license.

The entire complex, which will be located on Singapore's Sentosa Island is the work of the Malaysian gaming power house Genting Group who will be dropping an estimated 4.4 billion dollars on construction and initial operations. For those who are unfamiliar with their work they are the ones responsible for Genting Highlands and the highly successful Star Cruises.

Resort World Sentosa will be joined by another complex, Marina Bay Sands later in the year. Marina Bay Sands was originally scheduled to open first but suffered some serious delays and has now been scheduled to open in April. This complex will also afford fine amenities with luxury hotels, fine dining, theatres, museums and an array of clubs and lounges for an active nightlife. While Resort World Sentosa is aimed primarily as a family destination Marina Bay Sands seems to have a more Las Vegas feel to it. This is probably due to the fact that unlike Sentosa it was built by Las Vegas tycoon Sheldon Adelson. Both complexes promise an amazing destination.

Things have certainly moved along quickly since Singapore gave official permission for gambling operations and the construction of two casino complexes in their city state in 2005. The country hopes to draw money and additional tourism from these attractions since they are restricted primarily to manmade attractions in order to entice visitors to their small island based nation.
