 Everyone has been talking about Tiger Woods these past few days since his Thanksgiving weekend took a turn for the worse. Many of his fans looked on in horror as news broke reporting that Tiger crashed his car into a fire hydrant and tree outside of his Florida home where he lives with his family.
There has been plenty of speculation as to what led up to the accident that sent the greatest golfer in the world crashing into two unmoving objects. No one knows the details of Wood's shocking accident at this time but police are saying that alcohol was not a factor.
This took place around 2:30am on Friday, November 2, 2009 as he pulled out of his driveway in his black Escalade. He was reported to have been released from the hospital in good condition after receiving treatment for facial lacerations. This was good news compared to a previous statement saying that Woods was in serious condition. Attempts by law enforcement to speak with Woods regarding Friday's events have been unsuccessful.
Two days later he released this statement on his website:
"As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I'm pretty sure.
This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again.
This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.
The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.
This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be."
As this whole mess looms over Tiger Wood's family and him, many of us try to put together the puzzle and some have even come up with bizarre explanations as to what took place. As for me, I do believe in his rights to privacy and respect him for keeping quiet.
